North Star Sporting Club Limited (“the Club”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, visitors and the wider North Star community. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how we keep it safe.

While the Club’s annual turnover means we are not strictly bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), we choose to follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) as a matter of good practice and respect for our members.

The systems we use

To run the Club efficiently we use trusted third-party providers. Your information may be stored and processed within these systems:

Membership platform

We use an online membership platform to manage signups, payments and digital membership cards. Information you provide at signup is held within this platform.

Email and SMS communications

We use an email and SMS marketing platform to send communications to members and subscribers who have opted in. This provider may operate internationally, which means your contact details may be stored or processed on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. We choose providers that maintain industry-standard security measures and comply with international data protection frameworks.

Accounting

Payment and financial records relating to memberships are recorded in our accounting system for bookkeeping and compliance purposes.

Each of these providers acts on our instructions and is required to keep your information secure and confidential. The Club remains responsible for your personal information at all times.

Storage outside Australia

Because some of our service providers operate internationally, your personal information may be stored or processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure any provider we use protects your information to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where necessary to:

  • Operate the systems described above
  • Meet a legal obligation or respond to a lawful request from a government authority or regulator
  • Protect the Club, our members or others where we reasonably believe it is necessary

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes using reputable providers with appropriate security measures, and limiting access to personal information to those who need it to perform their role at the Club.

Accessing or correcting your information

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, and to ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date. You can also ask us to remove you from our mailing list at any time. To make a request, please contact us using the details below.
